Conditions: You are assigned as a Human Resources (HR) NCO in the S-1 section and your unit is scheduled to deploy in support of overseas contingency operations. You are required to set up and employ the VSAT to support HR operations. You have a VSAT system with all transit cases, packing lists to identify the components of the VSAT communications system, an operational location with a good view of the appropriate sky, tools to set up the system, TM 11-5895-1817-10 (Operator’s Manual for Combat Service Support (CSS) VSAT), and access to HR enabling systems. Some iterations of this task should be performed in MOPP 4.
Standards: Correctly prepare VSAT equipment for employment, examine planning considerations, place VSAT into operation and establish connectivity to HR enabling systems via the Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET).
