Functional Areas are elements that control funds and capture execution data. Operation & Maintenance Army (OMA) direct quarterly funds are distributed to the command at Functional Area ARMY in version 0. A subsequent transfer to a control Functional Area is completed by the command which is limited by the AFP loaded in version 1.
The execution Functional Area is cited on all execution documents. Availability control checks the associated control Functional Area for available funds. An example of a Functional Area for Operations and Maintenance is 111011WEAD.
