Budget planning in GFEBS has a significant impact on the overall financial management of the Army.
For example:
•All Army commands and their subordinate organizations now have visibility of out-year programmatic impacts of funding adjustments. The legacy process generally required staff to use internal processes to access out-year program status or impacts. Legacy financial systems did not possess the functionality to determine systemic programmatic impacts of funding or mission changes.
•The availability of the BI tool within GFEBS allows for the creation of simulations to evaluate future planning. There are no processes in the legacy financial systems that conduct systematic program / budget simulations. The commands may have other planning systems, but they will not be integrated with the current system.
