Master Fitness Trainers Course
Overview
Instruction includes all aspects of Army’s Physical Readiness Training System in accordance with current Army Doctrine and Regulations. Students learn how to perform as unit advisors to their commanders on physical readiness issues as well as establish and monitor both unit and individual Physical Readiness Training Programs. The instructional objectives of the Master Fitness Trainer Course instruction includes the science of exercise, physical fitness assessment, exercise training principles, exercise prescription, exercise leadership and development of individuals, and unit physical readiness programs in accordance with current Army doctrine and regulations.
Overview
Army PRT Policies and Regulations |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to familiarize you with the Army’s policies and regulations regarding Physical Readiness Training (PRT). As a Master Fitness Trainer it is imperative that you are able identify and understand all policies and doctrinal regulations in order to establish and maintain your subject matter expertise. |
Physical Readiness Training Philosophy |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to familiarize you with the Army’s policies and regulations regarding Physical Readiness Training (PRT). Physical Readiness Training System |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to identify and discuss the Army’s Physical Readiness Training System IAW FM 7-22, Chapter 2: PRT Phases, Reconditioning, PRT Principles/Components and types |
Skeletal Anatomy |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to familiarize you with the structure and function of the skeletal system. Learning will include the names, locations, features, types and functions of bones in optimal health and physical performance. |
Kinesiology |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to identify proper posture, the planes in which movements occur, and the actions that the body performs in order to create movement. |
Muscle Physiology |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to identify muscle structure and function in relationship to physical readiness training (PRT) and the physical performance of Warrior Tasks and Battle drills (WTBDs). |
Muscle Anatomy |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to familiarize you with the structure and function of the muscles in the skeletal system. Learning will include the names, locations, anatomy, types and functions of muscles used for physical activity. |
Exercise Physiology |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to identify the body’s methods for energy production and in relationship to physical readiness training (PRT) and the physical performance of WTBDs. |
Oxygen Transport System |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to identify the Oxygen Transport System (OTS) structure and function in relationship to health, Cardiovascular (CV) Disease Risk, fitness and the physical performance of Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills (WTBDs). |
AR-6009 Overview |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to learn how to implement the Army Body Composition Program (ABCP) in a unit IAW AR 600-9 and supporting regulations. |
Performance Nutrition |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to understand performance nutrition and how it relates to Army Physical Readiness Training. |
Strength and Mobility Activities |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to identify Strength and Mobility Activities IAW FM 7-22, Chapter 9. |
Endurance and Mobility Activities |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to Identify Physical Readiness Training (PRT) Endurance and Mobility Activities IAW FM 7-22, Chapter 10: Physical Readiness Training (PRT) endurance and mobility activities, exercise prescription and training requirements, and running form guidelines. |
Physical Readiness Training Program Planning Considerations |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to identify Physical Readiness Training types and programs IAW FM 7-22, Chapters 5 and 6 for initial military training (IMT), active and reserve units. |
Advanced Trends Physical Fitness |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to identify the latest principles and attributes of advanced fitness programs and evaluate various equipment and techniques of advanced fitness programs. |
Reconditioning: Special Conditioning Programs |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to discuss the conduct of PRT Special Conditioning Programs to include APFT or unit PRT goal failures, Soldiers on the Army Body Composition Program (ABCP), and Reconditioning for Soldiers on medical profile. |
APFT and Alternate Events Instruction |
The purpose of this period of instruction is to discuss the conduct of the APFT to include: APFT Administration, Duties of Test Personnel, Test Site, Test Procedures and Alternate Events. |
